Welcome to Skyworks! In today's fast paced society, people rarely take any time to look up and behold the wonders of the daily sky. Not only is the sky an ever-changing phenomenon, but it is also the perfect resource for teaching practically any subject. The study of the sky can encompass subjects from science and math to art, literature, and history. The aim of Skyworks is to introduce the versatility of the sky in a manner that is fun and stimulating to the imagination and intellect of the user. This program's purpose is not just to provide information, but to get users to experience and appreciate the sky through awareness of its many elements. The program's content and organization are based on the workings of Jack Borden, founder of the non-profit organization, For Spacious Skies. It is divided into five educational sections and four activity sections that utilize the photography and teachings of John Day and a cast of animated characters. About John Day John has spent his lifetime pursuing a passion for the sky. He holds a Ph.D. in Cloud Physics and is a Professor Emeritus at Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon. He has written many books on science and weather and currently contributes the bi-weekly column "Words on the Weather" to the News Registeer of McMinnville. His hobbies include photography, golf, traveling, teaching, and telling people to "Look up and see, really see, the beauty and majesty of the sky." About Jack Borden This former Boston television news reporter was a four-year member of the Educational Commission of the American Meteorological Society, a contributor to Sky and Telescope Magazine, a Margaret Nobel Lecturer at the 1994 Convention of the Middle Atlantic Planetarium Society, and a member of the Massachussetts Aviation Education Council. In 1987, his For Spacious Skies program received the American Meteorological Society's award for Outstanding Contribution. Installation is Easyæ Skyworks can be run entirely from the CD-ROM.
